Don’t Be Late: Plan Early for Event Marketing

Do you have an event or promotion coming up in May? Take time in January to start thinking about how you will market the event and what materials you may need to build out an effective web page. Planning early in the year can save you the headache that descends when things are in full swing, your event is fast approaching, and you’re knee-deep in serving your clients or customers.

Here’s a quick list to help you get started:

  • If you decide to create the visuals yourself, make a plan for what type of photos you may need. Think about the design direction, including what fonts, color palettes, or design elements work best with your content and speak to your target audience.

  • Gather visuals from free stock photo sites that may help determine your color palette and the overall look for the promotion materials.

  • Jot down some preliminary copy for the publicity materials. This might include a price list or a catchy title for your event.

  • Begin building a web page, even if you keep it hidden, so that you can work on it in increments.

Even if you don’t have all the details, it helps to get a jump on thinking about a landing page for an upcoming event or promotion so it doesn’t feel like such a heavy lift when it’s time to roll out the publicity.

The more you can do at the beginning of the year to help prep your calendar and prepare ahead of time, the better off you’ll be!
