How to Choose a Strong Font for Your Brand or Logo
A logo hints at your brand's worldview and attitude. Part of that comes from the typeface or font you select to be part of your logo or wordmark, and the typographic systems you create across all your branded pieces.
Here are some things to consider:
Clarity
Make sure you select a legible font for your logo. You want your logo to stand out, but above that, you want your brand’s name to be easy to read. Wild, illegible, over-designed font is out there, and it's not going to do you any favors.Attitude
A serif font like Times New Roman might project an earnest, professional vibe; while a script font may elicit a more casual, carefree mood. Think about your brand’s attitude and what font type best conveys it.Scalability
Consider where and how your logo will be used when selecting your font. Will a logo that reads well on a large sign or banner also look good on a hand-held mobile device? The font you select should be powerful at every size.
You want your brand’s name to be the first thing that pops out from a logo design. The font you select will go a long way towards successful branding!
