Released in 2022, Suono Dell’Isola (Sound of the Island) is an independent film that tells the story of Angelo, an American sound engineer who travels to Sicily in search of his family roots and finds himself entangled with the local characters in a small town. Filmmakers Michael Carlo Allen and Matt Wayne requested a color palette to match the vibrancy of the Sicilian landscape and typography reminiscent of 1960s Italian cinema. We crafted custom bold color and black-and-white outline icons to represent key objects and moments in the film, and selected a minimal bold sans-serif font for the type.
